Layla Hall
Percussionist/Vocalist, Layla Hall has been studying/playing/teaching percussion for over 15 years. Starting at the age of 10 in her school's music program, she quickly rose to section leader of her school and community ensembles, such as the Lincoln Park Marching, Jazz, and Symphonic bands, Dearborn Youth Symphony, and Henry Ford Community College Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic and Jazz bands, as well as attending Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp during the summers, including being named section leader of the Int'l Symphonic Band, all of this while still attending h.s. After graduating, she studied music ed./perf. on percussion at Eastern Michigan University, again being named section leader of the Marching (quints, sub-leader), Symphonic, Jazz, and Basketball bands. Layla also has been involved in many original rock bands, and is influenced by jazz, funk, folk, blues, classical and world music. She has tought clinics, and h.s. drumlines in the Detroit area, as well as privately. She is a Detroit Music Award nominee for Outstanding Acoustic Instrumentalist, a veteran to entertaining/performing, and an over-all jaw-dropper!!!
